THURSDAY FEBRUARY 9, 2017 at 6:30 PM
LONDON ROAD RESIDENTS are invited to a special meeting to be held at the LETHBRIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY (theatre gallery in the basement) on Thursday, FEBRUARY 9, 2017 at 6:30 pm to 9 pm to discuss a special resolution on the LRNA BY-LAWS. Other discussion topics will include MEMBERSHIP and the London Road AREA REDEVELOPMENT PLAN!
…AND there will be delicious refreshments served!
At last year’s AGM, the LRNA membership delivered a mandate to the board to review our bylaws. We struck a committee of board members and neighbourhood residents, and over a six-month period, we combed, edited, recommended, and re-edited the bylaws. The committee presented a final draft to the LRNA board in April, and with a few changes, the board approved a draft document for the membership to approve at this year’s AGM on 16 June at 19:00 in the Theatre Gallery of the downtown branch of the Lethbridge Public Library. You can find the recommended bylaw changes at londonroad.org.
Our membership also mandated (as per our current bylaws) that the LRNA present audited financial statements for the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 fiscal years. Our finance committee has been hard at work organizing our financial records and finding someone qualified to audit them. We will have them ready at our AGM for your approval.
Also, at this year’s AGM will be a presentation on the progress the City of Lethbridge has made on updating the London Road Area Redevelopment Plan.
Some of our board members are stepping down, so there will be opportunities for neighbourhood residents to serve on our board and make a difference in the strategic direction of LRNA.
Please join us on 16 June to learn more about the ARP, to have your say in the updated LRNA bylaws, to approve our audited financial statements, and perhaps volunteer on our board.
We’re holding our annual Family Fair on 20 June 2015, 13:00–16:00.
Featuring fun and games with free sno-cones and popcorn, dog training, musicians, puppet show, antique and classic cars, bouncy castles, face painting, exhibits, and low priced hot dogs and burgers.
Come enjoy the family fun!

In partnership with Beyond Your Front Door, City of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Urban Farmers Guild, and Urban Grocer, the London Road Neighbourhood Association is hosting a community garden party later this month to celebrate our new community garden.
This event will be a chance for you and your family to get your hands dirty! We’re building the community garden now in preparation for the first growing season: spring 2015! The garden building will start at 9:00 on 20 September 2014, with a BBQ, potluck, and presentation at 17:30.
Come help make this garden a success. Visit the Facebook event to tell us you’re coming!
In celebration of our 40th anniversary this year, we present the 2014 Fall Homes Tour.
For your $15 ticket, you can tour 5 historic homes in the London Road Neighbourhood, each with a unique history. Plus, each ticket is eligible for a $25 gift certificate to the Jasmine Tea Room.
Tickets are available at the Jasmine Tea Room, located at 1112 6 Avenue South.
If you’re on Facebook, buy your tickets, then tell us you’re coming. We look forward to seeing you there!
Come out for an hour to show your community pride and get to know your fellow London Road residents.
On 21 August 2014, the Canada Games site selection team will visit Lethbridge. The bid committee will show them our city’s facilities for the games then take them to Galt Gardens for a final community rally.
To get to the rally, the bid committee and the site selection team will travel through London Road. The bid committee has asked London Road Neighbourhood Association to organize residents to pack 6 Avenue (between 11 and 13 Streets) and 11 Street (between 4 and 6 Avenue) and cheer as the bus drives by.
The team and committee will leave Exhibition Park – Lethbridge around 13:30 that afternoon and arrive at Galt Gardens around 14:00. Sometime during that half hour, they will pass through our neighbourhood.
If you can make it out that day, please wear your favourite sports team jersey, carry banners, and bring noisemakers. We need to show them that we’re more excited to host the games than Red Deer is.
Plus, it’s an awesome way to get to know your neighbours.
Check out our Facebook event, and mark yourself as going. Then invite your friends.
We are excited to announce that we are set for the neighbourhood consultation for the community garden project in London Road. We will be hosting this consultation on Wednesday, July 30, 18:30 to 19:30 at the Fish and Game Hut in Kinsmen Park.
If you’re interested in going, RSVP to our Facebook event!
The City of Lethbridge has organized a guided tour of buildings in the London Road neighbourhood. Jane’s Walk is an annual event organized in cities across Canada to honour Jane Jacobs, an early leader in the struggle to revive cities affected by suburban expansion and “urban renewal”. The tour begins at the northeast corner of the Civic Centre Field on May 5 at 10:00 am.
Due to the rain and snow we have had, the neighbourhood cleanup has been rescheduled for May 13. Volunteers can meet at Jason’s house at 713 9th Street South at 2 pm. There will be snacks and drinks after we return around 4 pm. Garbage bags will be provided. Please bring work gloves if you wish to use them.
The upcoming AGM is on June 13 starting at 7 pm at the Lethbridge Public Library in the community room downstairs. Belinda Crowson from the Galt Museum will be speaking about historic buildings in the neighbourhood. Tyson Boylan from the City of Lethbridge will discuss how our neighbourhood fared in the Great Places in Canada contest.
