We received the following information from City of Lethbridge Waste and Recycling Services.
Autumn leaf collection
Until November 23, residents can place their leaves in paper bags for pickup, rather than having to drive them to yard waste sites or the landfill themselves. These leaves are then composted and the soil is used by the city parks department!

After putting all that hard work into carving your jack-o-lantern, don’t let it go to waste! Clean pumpkins can be taken to yard waste sites for composting.

- We elected a new board of directors.
- Robert McKay and Andrew Malcolm, planners with the City of Lethbridge, presented on the the progress of the new London Road Area Redevelopment Plan.
- We passed new bylaws for the LRNA.
- We recognized Garfield Bland (long-time board member, as well as former president) for his many years of service to the board.
The spring issue of our newsletter is now available. Check it out and let us know what you think.
At last year’s AGM, the LRNA membership delivered a mandate to the board to review our bylaws. We struck a committee of board members and neighbourhood residents, and over a six-month period, we combed, edited, recommended, and re-edited the bylaws. The committee presented a final draft to the LRNA board in April, and with a few changes, the board approved a draft document for the membership to approve at this year’s AGM on 16 June at 19:00 in the Theatre Gallery of the downtown branch of the Lethbridge Public Library. You can find the recommended bylaw changes at londonroad.org.
Our membership also mandated (as per our current bylaws) that the LRNA present audited financial statements for the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 fiscal years. Our finance committee has been hard at work organizing our financial records and finding someone qualified to audit them. We will have them ready at our AGM for your approval.
Also, at this year’s AGM will be a presentation on the progress the City of Lethbridge has made on updating the London Road Area Redevelopment Plan.
Some of our board members are stepping down, so there will be opportunities for neighbourhood residents to serve on our board and make a difference in the strategic direction of LRNA.
Please join us on 16 June to learn more about the ARP, to have your say in the updated LRNA bylaws, to approve our audited financial statements, and perhaps volunteer on our board.
We’re holding our annual Family Fair on 20 June 2015, 13:00–16:00.
Featuring fun and games with free sno-cones and popcorn, dog training, musicians, puppet show, antique and classic cars, bouncy castles, face painting, exhibits, and low priced hot dogs and burgers.
Come enjoy the family fun!
Don’t forget to check out our Facebook event and let us know you’re coming!
To all members of the London Road Neighbourhood Association,
During the 2014 AGM, the LRNA membership gave the LRNA Board of Directors a mandate to update the bylaws to address some apparent deficiencies.
The Board of Directors struck a Governance Committee (including board members and members at large) in the fall. After several meetings over a 6-month period and several revisions, the committee presented the draft changes to the LRNA Board of Directors. After some deliberation, the Board of Directors finally approved a recommended draft for the membership to review and approve at the 2015 Annual General Meeting.
Here is a link to the proposed changes:
The left column contains the original bylaws, the middle column contains the proposed changes, and the right column contains comments related to changes. Red rows are deleted bylaws, yellow rows are changed bylaws, and green rows are new bylaws.
Please review the bylaw changes and come prepared to share your thoughts and suggestions at the AGM on Thursday, June 18. If you have any questions, please email us at email@example.com.
The LRNA is seeking a new board member starting immediately.
If you live in London Road and want to get involved in the local community, this is a great opportunity. Previous committee and/or event planning experience is an asset, but certainly not required.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org should you be interested.
